I had my first shot of the vaccine against Covid -19 on the 18th of June 2021 at Klinik De Era in Ipoh Garden South.
Klinik De Era is one of the clinics in Ipoh recruited by the government to join their immunisation programme in vaccinating the citizens of Perak against Covid 19.The reason of having this programme is to hasten the nation into reaching the herd immunity by 2022.
I came to know about this programme and the clinic when I was called for my long awaited vaccination by Dr.Shaun Ashley Chin who is the resident doctor there.I had been waiting for my vaccination since February and when Dr.Shaun contacted me to say that I could get my vaccination on the 18th June,I was esctatic.
Some of my friends thought that I had to pay for the vaccine since it is a private clinic,well how wrong they are.All vaccinations are free and the clinic helps the government with the programme by having three days in a week for the vaccination while the government send 18 people who are above 60 on each vaccination day to the clinic.So if you are lucky you get to be vaccinated at their clinic.
On that 'historical day' for me I arrived at the clinic with my heart pounding out of anxiety! Dr.Shaun met me at the reception area and led me to the waiting area.I must say that I was greeted well by all the staffs at the lovely clinic.The staffs there were friendly and after explaining to me about the programme,I was taken into the doctor's room.He took my blood pressure which suddenly sky rocketed.I was shocked because all the while my blood pressure was normal.Anyway he said it happens to everyone when they are anxious.While Dr. Shaun talked to me about lunch,another doctor came to me and showed me the vaccine.It was a Sinovac and then he slowly told me that he is going to inject me with that.Dr.Shaun had to take my blood pressure again because I was not at ease and this time it went down and the other doctor injected me with Sinovac while I was telling Dr Shaun about the pie I had for lunch.Phew,it was over,no pain at all and that's it.The procedure was very short except that one has to wait for 20 minutes in the waiting area after the injection to see if there are any reactions.Again my blood pressure was taken for the third time and luckily it went further down.I was pleased with their professional treatment and explanation.
During the 20 minutes wait,I had a talk with another doctor about the function of Klinik De Era.She told me that it is an aesthetic and functional medicine clinic but they specialise in supernatant and Cell Therapy. Other than that, they have their own CGMP factory producing their own skincare and personal care line. They are also heavily involved in advancing stem cell research, collaborating with labs such as 23 Century International Life Science Centre and the International Society for Stem Cell Research. Wow!
I went home and waited for any side effects.I had panadol ready just in case I get a fever.Surprisingly no fever but I became very sleepy and slept at 9pm till 9 am the next day.
Overall I had a good experience of my vaccination day and my next dose will be on the 9th of July.
